SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Social Responsibility and Environ Mission statement
At Resources Fiji LLC our objective is to use wood resources carefully, balancing sustainable use of wood today while supporting conservation of resources for future generations. This conscious balance helps us to contribute to the improving of long-term socio-economic benefits for the people and communities where we do business. By promoting sustainable forestry and sourcing only legally harvested lumber, we encourage communities to conserve forested areas for the future.
SUPPORTING OUR COMMUNITIES
We operate in rural communities across the Melanesia Islands and the United States, and we are proud to give our time and money to help ensure they are thriving places to live and work. In 2021, we imported shipments of Salvaged Timber products damaged from Tropical Cyclone (TC) Yasa as a Category 5 cyclone, causing extensive damage across Vanua Levu, with estimates of 97,000 people affected. It was the most destructive cyclone since TC Winston in 2016. The salvaged product is currently being processed, finish product will be retailed and auctioned off starting October 15th, proceeds will be returned in charitable grants, in-kind donations, and sponsorships to rebuild communities to support the causes the landowners care about in their communities.
In 2016, we were one of the first companies in our industry to offer training programs in Erromango Vanuatu, and throughout the Fiji Islands. As part of our ongoing commitment to offer training programs in the timber trade market we’re developing communities not only in financial support but also in knowledge.
Beyond building a culture of Sustainability, Environmental practice and inclusion, we also focus on providing competitive pay and benefits that will attract the best talent, and then measuring the success of our culture and programs through regular feedback and pulse surveys.
